What can you do in advance?

To make sure the assembly goes smoothly, there are a few preparations you can make. Some things need more preparation than others, so it's good to consider this beforehand.
Renovating new construction stairs

About a month before installation:

  1. Electrical socket: Have you opted for a staircase with LED lighting? If so, please ensure there is an electrical socket near your staircase so that we can connect the lighting.
  2. Finish any painting work: Are you planning to paint your stair stringers, walls or handrails? Do this well in advance so that the paint can dry properly. This prevents damage during installation.
  3. Removing battens: Battens must be removed before installation. This ensures that the new stair treads can be fitted properly. Where are the battens? And what is the best way to remove them? Watch this video where we explain it step by step.
Bear in mind that you may then need to fill and paint any damage to, for example, the stair stringers.
  4. Old carpet on the stairs: Before installation, the old carpet and any coarse adhesive residue on the stairs must be removed. Read more about this in this article on our blog.
  5. Level floor: If a matching Upstairs floor is also to be laid, the existing floor must be levelled beforehand.
Advice for your new-build staircase

On the day of installation:

  1. Make sure there is enough space: Clear the area around the stairs so that the fitters can work properly. This includes shoes, furniture or other obstacles.
  2. Keep parking spaces clear: To ensure a smooth start, we ask you to keep two parking spaces free for the fitters so they can easily unload their tools and materials.
  3. Please be present: It would be helpful if you could be present when our fitters arrive. They will then go through the order with you and check that they are installing the correct staircase. It is, of course, reassuring to have this checked with you, the buyer, before they begin work.

Right then, you’re all set now!

Our fitters will arrive at your home between 7.30 and 8.30 am on the day of installation.
We hope you enjoy your dream staircase!
