Is a staircase renovation safe?
Yes. Safety is an essential part of a high-quality staircase renovation.
The Upstairs Original Top Layer contains a special aluminium alloy that provides a non-slip surface. You can also opt for integrated LED lighting, making the steps more visible in the dark.
With Smart Stairs, the lighting can even switch on automatically when you step onto the stairs. Safety is therefore not just about the design, but also the technology.

Frequently Asked Questions
The consultation is the first step towards your new staircase. Our consultant will visit your home and take plenty of time (around 1.5 hours) to show you all the options. Together, we’ll look at which style, materials and details suit your interior and preferences. This way, you’ll know exactly what’s possible and what best suits your situation. It’s best if both you and your partner are present during the consultation, so that you can choose the right colours and materials together.

Yes, we have showrooms in Weert, Hoogeveen and Utrecht. Here, you can see and feel our extensive collection for yourself and meet our experts. They will be happy to discuss your staircase renovation with you and answer any questions you may have. Our head office is located in Weert, where, in addition to the showroom, you will also find our production facilities, warehouse, customer service and various support departments.
The biggest added value is our lifetime guarantee. An Upstairs staircase is scratch- and wear-resistant and easy to clean with a damp cloth. It is a sustainable investment. Renovate once and you’ll never need major maintenance on your staircase again!
The Smart Stairs is installed during the Upstairs staircase renovation using special software linked to a dedicated app, which displays a range of information. This includes how the staircase is being used, how many steps are being taken (and which ones), how quickly someone is walking up or down the stairs, and when someone is using the staircase. The LED lighting can also be controlled via the app; naturally, you can switch it on and off, but you can also choose the colour and dim the lighting at your convenience.Â
That’s a bit tricky, as it depends on where the creaking is coming from. We don’t alter the structure of the staircase; instead, we fit stair tread covers over the existing steps. These tread covers may help to reduce the creaking, thanks to our special foam adhesive, which is not only strong but also absorbs the sound of footsteps. However, we cannot guarantee this 100%.
