Do you have fabric stair coverings? If so, you’ll usually find yourself having to get the hoover out. These tips will make it a lot easier:

- Work in sections. Keep the vacuum cleaner downstairs for the bottom steps and upstairs for the top steps.
- Use a handheld vacuum cleaner. A compact handheld vacuum cleaner is ideal for hard-to-reach corners.
- Opt for an extra-long handle. Does your vacuum cleaner fit an extension tube? If so, you’ll have to lift less and can reach every step more easily.
If your stairs aren’t upholstered, you can easily clean them using other methods:
- A slightly damp cloth for stairs with a wood, concrete or marble finish. Please ensure you do not use too much water.
- Special cleaning products designed specifically for stairs, so you can be sure you won’t cause any damage.
